27,255. Mackley, E. N. Nov. 26. Casings.-The casing f of a centrifugal pump is fitted with an axially-removable Imer a constituting the volute-shaped guide-passage and formed in one piece. The liner a is provided on each side with a ring of projections c or the like engaging respectively a flange g or the like on the casing f or on a separate cover and a similar flange h on the endcover j. By removing the cover j, the liner a can be lifted in one piece out of the casing f. The liner may be made of porcelain, glass, or casehardened metal, or of a combination of substances, for instance an outer shell of cast iron and an inner lining of glass.
