Abstract

124. Jahnke, O. Jan. 2. Metal pipes and tubes. - Revoluble or fixed flanges are attached to pipes by means of circumferential ribs on the exterior of the latter which fit into corresponding grooves on the inside of the flange, which is shrunk on. The flange r, Fig. 1, is formed with grooves b, which correspond with ribs l on the pipe, and is placed on the latter by expanding with heat and allowing to cool. If the flange be required to revolve, the diameters at a and b are made slightly greater than the corresponding diameters on the pipe, as shown. If the flange is to be fixed, these diameters are made equal. The invention may be used for securing the edge ring used in conjunction with a loose back flange.
