29,358. Churchward, S. F. C. Dec. 15. Butt joints for metal, steam, water, or gas pipes, of the type in which the pipes are drawn up by clamps comprising two semicircular pieces d bolted together, and having inner conical surfaces c which bear upon conical flanges b, joint being made between the pipe ends, between the clamp and flanges, and between the parts of the clamp. Instead of being integral with the pipes, the flanges are shrunk on or otherwise affixed. Red lead, lead-wire, or other packing may be used between the jointing-surfaces.
