Flanging.-In order to connect a vacuum brake casing C to the flange ring A at the lower end, the ring is formed with an upstanding part B having a conical outer face adapted to engage a corresponding conical part of the casing C, the lower end of which is lapped over the ring, or a bead D thereon, as shown. The upstanding part may be untapered or dispensed with, the parts in this case being held by the bead alone.
