Abstract

27,059. Krause, G. A. Nov. 25, 1912, [Convention date]. Gases &c., treating electrically.-Particles suspended in gases are separated by causing the gas to flow successively past two sets of electrodes of opposite polarity, the first set acting as charging-electrodes, and the second set serving to collect the charged dust particles. The two sets of electrodes b, d, Fig. 1, are preferably arranged in separate chambers a, s, and it is convenient to have the inlets, outlets, 'and communicating-passages c of these chambers of less cross-section than the chambers themselves. The charging-electrode preferably consists of two wire rings b<1> connected by wires b<2> arranged parallel to current of gas. Preferably, a number of sets of collecting-electrodes are arranged on a common axis, so that the sets may be brought into position successively.
