Abstract

26,026. Gelly, J. C. Nov. 15, 1912, [Convention date]. Alloys; dry processes of extracting and refining aluminium.-A flux for aluminium or its alloys contains one part each of nickel, manganese, and chromium and 9 to 12 parts of aluminium. The aluminium is prepared by heating potassium with anhydrous aluminium chloride and dissolving out the potassium chloride so formed. The powdered aluminium so produced is added while stirring, to a molten mixture of nickel, manganese, and chromium. On cooling, the flux forms an infusible powder, which may be used repeatedly.
