Abstract

Pile or nap, raising.-To produce pile fabrics from felt, the pieces of felt are fed by hand between a pair of feed-rollers by which they are slowly advanced, while a more rapidly rotating combing-cylinder raises the nap. The combing- cylinder E is carried on a shaft J which, through chains, drives one of the feed-rollers D<1>, the cleaning-cylinder F, and the suction blower H. The feed-wheel D is geared to the wheel D<1>, and the wheels, which are rubber covered, feed pieces of felt to the cylinder E, guides returning the pieces to the table I. The pieces may be passed through the machine any number of times. The fluff is removed by means of the blower H and suction funnel G. The bearings are all formed in guides mounted in grooves in the frame A, those of the shaft J being controlled by springs T and screws X. The guides of the rollers D, D' have frames U adjustable by screws V, the guide of the roller D being fixed, and that of the roller D<1> controlled by springs,
