Abstract

18,944. Primosigh, E. Aug. 20. Surface-tension separating processes and apparatus. -A flotation process for the separation of ores consists in introducing the ore and liquids continuously into a closed mixing-apparatus and producing therein by the mixing operation a pressure which is utilized for forcing the mixture to the separating-vessel through a pipe into which compressed air is admitted. The ore and liquids are supplied to a centrifugal pump 1 through a pipe 2 having an opening 3 immersed in water so that air is excluded from the pump. The mixture passes through a pipe 5, to which air is admitted through pipes 6, 7, to a nozzle 8 submerged in liquid in the separating - vessel 9. The gangue is removed through a pipe 11, and the concentrates pass away through a channel 12.
