Abstract

108,308. Grondal, G. July 26, 1916, [Convention date]. Surface-tension separating processes and apparatus.-Ores are concentrated by forcing into a pulp a mixture of oil and a gas in apparatus arranged to form a high column of froth out of which any entrained gangue particles tend to drop before the froth is delivered at an overflow. In the apparatus shown, pulp from a feed compartment 2 passes into the first of a series of compartments 4 which contain water and into which the oil and air mixture is forced through roses 6. The pulp and froth pass through an opening 8 into a compartment 9 from which the froth overflows at 10 into a launder 11 while the remaining pulp passes through openings 13, 17<1>, 12' into the next compartment 4 for further treatment, and so on through the series. The gangue free from metalliferous particles is discharged from a compartment 14. Normally closed openings 16 are provided for emptying the apparatus.
