735,237. Washing granular materials. MUFULIRA COPPER MINES, Ltd. (Dell, C. C.). Oct. 1, 1953 [Oct. 1, 1952], No. 24631/52. Class 82 (2). A froth-flotation process for ores produces a series of successive froths from a given ore-pulp, the earlier froths of the series containing the richer mineral, and the mineral from these froths is re-cleaned by rediffusion in water and refloated, the richest first, the residue thereof with the mineral from the next froth, the residue from that with the mineral from the next froth, and so on. Similar re-cleaning treatments may follow. The apparatus described has horizontally divided compartments formed by partitions 43, 44. Agitator shafts 45-48 each carry impellers 50 with air inlet pipes 54. Pulp is supplied to this stage through pipe 55, and tailings leave at 56. Bladed members 62 working in openings 57 rediffuse the froth in chamber 61. Inlet 63 and tailings outlet 66 are provided. A similar action takes place in the topmost compartment. A launder 74 collects the final froth and an adjustable flap 77 allows the left-hand pulp and right-hand pulp to be separated. Outlet 75 yields middlings and the main concentrate is collected in portion 78.
