15,397. Welin, A. July 3. [Cognate Application, 25,256/13.] Davits.-Gear for sluing davits comprises a grooved collar d secured to the davit stem a. A rope e attached to and passing round the collar also passes around a drum h on the bottom of a vertical shaft i rotated by worm gear. In a modification in which the davits move in unison, an endless rope passes round both davits and also around co-axial drums mounted in the pedestal j. In a further modification, davits, which are stepped apart at a distance less than the length of the boat, are slued out in proper sequence by employing two separate ropes passed around the davits and also around drums h, h<1> provided with mutilated pinions r, p geared together by pinions q, n. The davit heads are connected together by a link m and on applying power to the pinion n the mutilated pinions come in and out of gear, and the davits are slued out through the successive positions 1, 2, 3.
