Packing, metallic.- Relates to packing for piston-rods and revolving shafts of the type in which sets of packing are contained in separate recesses, and consists in the employment in each recess of a divided ring a, pressed both radially and axially, and a pair of undivided rings c<1>, c<2>. The segmental ring a is formed with a bevelled outer surface, which is acted on by a spring ring b, or by a segmental ring of similar cross-section surrounded by a spring. The undivided rings c', c<2> are ground to fit the rod.
