Heating charge; vaporizers, external.- Apparatus for electrically heating air or combustible mixture, comprises a vessel 5 lined with heat - insulating material, and carrying electric conductors 21 leading from terminals 23 and attached to a series of baffling-disks 24 of cast plaster or the like of different sizes, these disks carrying resistance coils 27, 28, 29 of successively increasing resistance, so that air or other fluid entering at 10 meets the hottest coil first. The coils 27, 28 may have cores of asbestos &c., and the coil 29 may be open to the fluid.
