Abstract

The blade-holder and handle are formed from flexible resilient wire having two curved or straight arms 3 provided with grooves 4, in which is held a flat or curved and preferably two-edged blade 5. The guard may be detachable, and adjustably secured to the arms 3 by hooks 8, Fig. 4, or integrally formed of wire, Fig. 9. The guard may have struck-up portions to bear on the blade. The arms 2 may be obliquely inclined to the handle, the arms 3<a> being parallel for use with a rhomboidal blade. The blade is introduced into the grooves in the arms 3 by removing the guard or springing the arms apart and working the blade into the grooves from beneath the arms 2. The guard may be omitted when a curved blade is used.
