Abstract

14,008. Bourne, T. F. June 19, 1912, [Convention date]. Actuating.-The fuel-supply valves in carburettors for use in vehicles, boats, aeroplanes, &c., are regulated according to the gradient over which the vehicle is passing by means of a pendulum. The fuel nozzle 5, Fig. 2, is controlled by a valve 14, to which is attached the pendulum 16. Relative motion of the pendulum and casing is limited by stops 27, Fig. 9. Axial movement of the valve is obtained by a cam face on the pendulum 16 working over a similar face 18 on the casing. The faces are kept in contact by a spring 19. In a modification, the axial movement is obtained by a screwthread on the valve. In the construction shown in Fig. 9, the valve 14 moves angularly relatively to the nozzle. In a further modification, the valve 14 is in the air passage 4 and is actuated through linkwork.
