Compound piston pumps. -In a compound air-compressor of the kind having a pair of opposed pistons in each cylinder, the cylinders are arranged in line with the low-pressure cylinder A remote from the driving-shaft G. The adjacent pistons F<2>, F<3> of the cylinders are connected to a pair of driving-cranks N<2>, and the remote pistons F'. F<4> to a driving-crank N' arranged 180 degrees apart from the crank N<2>. To economize head room, the connecting rods R' may be attached directly to the cross-beam O, and the connectiug-rod M to a gudgeon-pin within the piston F<4>.
