Abstract

11,748. Del Mastro, A. May 20. Tyres, details and arrangements in connexion, with the inflation of.-A method of inflating tyres while the vehicle is in motion is characterized by the chamber which communicates with the tyre valve and the pump or compressed-air reservoir being formed by a groove provided in a stationary or rotatable member of the hub, tightness being obtained by simple contact with little friction between the stationary and rotatable members. As shown in Fig. 1, the groove 4 communicating with the valve pipe 7 is formed on a part 2 fixed to or integral with the spindle and an easy fit inside the hub, air being supplied to the groove by the axial passage 6 and transverse passage 5. In a modification, the part 2<1>, Fig. 2, in which the groove 4 is formed is attached to the hub and fits easily round the spindle. The air-supply pipe may have a ball- and-socket connexion to a multiple-way cock communicating with one or more of the grooves 4 in the wheels of the vehicle.
