Abstract
0116,664. Knudsen, P. O. J. Jan. 14, 1918. Inflating, methods of.-In means for inflating pneumatic tyres whilst running or stationary, a passage 13 in the fixed axle 8 is connected by a pipe 28 to a compressed-air reservoir and communicates with a passage 4 in an extension of the rotating axle-cap 1, the latter passage being connected to the tyre valve. The. reservoir may be charged by a pump driven by the motor, and may be fitted with a safety-valve and hand-operated valves leading to the separate wheel connexicns. The ball-bearing 15. 16 together with the axle 8 is contained within a sleeve 5 threaded on the axle-cap 1. A packing washer 24 is fitted as shown to maintain the joint air-tight.
