Abstract

24,752. Burgraff, L. Nov. 7. Tyres, details and arrangements in connexion with inflation of.-Comprises means for inflating the tyre of a motor-vehicle which may be used while the vehicle is in motion. An airpump driven by the engine or by foot supplies air to the wheels, the pipes being furnished with valves so that any one wheel may be cut out, with pressure gauges, and with a safety valve. Fig. 4 shows a method of inflating the tyre on a steering-wheel. The stub axle is bored out and threaded to receive a pipe 19 with an enlarged head 27 at the outer end. Surrounding this head is a bonnet formed by two members 21, 22, the member 22 having a neck 23 bearing on the pipe 19. A gland is fitted to keep the junction air-tight. A flexible pipe 9 leads to the pump, and a pipe 28 leads from the bonnet to the tyre. In a modified construction, the same device is adapted to a wheel secured to a live axle.
