F r a m e w o r k ; cars.- The closed hollow bodies of aeroplanes are made by winding in crossed directions thin strips of wood c so as to form several layers, which are g l u e d together. The inner layer is nailed to longitudinal ribs b, carried by a former A made in five pieces a ... a<4> for facilitating withdrawal. The former is mounted on trunnions d, and tha strips are fixed on to the ribs b under tension. Apertures f for the aviator and g for the rear plane are made, and the body is covered inside and outside. Posts e for the shrouds may be secured to the ribs b.
