Abstract

126,710. Vickers, Ltd., and Burgoine, S. F. Feb. 21, 1917. Framework; cars. - Aeroplane fuselages and nacelles and airship cars are constructed wholly of wood and comprise longerons grooved to receive boarding which is cut at intervals into holes strengthened at their edges by hoops. Figs. 1 and 2 show an elevation and plan of a fuselage having four longerons A of soft wood grooved to receive three-ply boarding B, E having openings C, F fitted with hoops D, G of ash grooved to fit over the boarding. Strengthening-struts H, J, each in two parts laid on opposite sides of the boarding, are connected to the longerons A, and the inner parts are grooved to receive transverse partitions which also have openings strengthened by hoops. The boarding is cut in small sections joined as shown at N along their smallest dimensions.
