Abstract

128,993. Warren, A. O., Prior, W., and Prior, E. G. Sept. 13, 1917. Framework.-The fuselage, wings, struts, &c. of aircraft are built up of a number of frames b arranged side by side and connected together and to the longitudinal members a. The frames are of substantially triangular form and are of laminated construction, Fig. 6, formed by winding the laminations on a former and binding them together. Fig. 1 shows the side of a fuselage; similar frames are provided at the top and bottom of the fuselage. The frames may be secured to the longerons by adhesive and wrappings, and the contacting faces may be bevelled, Fig. 4. Struts f, Fig. 2, may be secured to the sides of adjoining frames.
