5527. Davidson, S. C. Jun. 18, 1912. Casings, centrifugalfan. An impeller, which is preferably of the drum type described in Specification 4609 / 98, [Class 8, Air and gases, Compressing, &c.], and may be of the kin d described in Specification 1476/12, is so arranged in relation to the casing that in addition to the flow through the drum, an induced flow outside the drum is set up. Fig. 9 shows an impeller A placed in a duct 2 so that a space for induced flow is left around the periphery. Blades g may be fitted in this space, and in the discharge. The suction and discharge pipes may be flared, and double inlet impellers may be employed. Specifications 7050/04 and 21,891A/04, [both in Class 8, Air and gases, Compressing &c.], are referred to.
