[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Turning-gear.-A pedal or hand-lever i placed near the driver's seat acts on a one-way clutch on the engine shaft, through a cord g and spring j. The further end of the cord is attached to a fixed part through a second spring f, which returns the partsto their normal position. As shown, the clutch comprises a spring-pressed pawl k moved into engagement with the ratchet-wheel l on the shaft b by the cord, which passes over the head of the pawl. The transmission between the handlever and the one-way clutch may be in part through rigid links.
