2494. Schneider, E. Jan. 30. Field carriages.-Relates to transport carriages for dismounted field guns, and consists in adapting the arrangement described in Specification 18,477/06, wherein a two-wheeled transport carriage is entirely supported upon the gun-carriage in the harreltransferring position, for use with four-wheeled transport carriages. Two constructions are described. (1) The hubs e, Fig. 1, of the rear wheels d of the transport carriage i are enlarged to form flanged rollers e<1> which run upon the sides of the guncarriage trail until they enter recesses c. At the same time, the front wheels n are guided on to laterally-extending platforms k on the rear end of the trail by guide-rails m. The transport carriage is thus entirely supported upon the trail a. A winch q is provided for drawing the transport carriage into the barrel - transferring position shown. (2) If platforms k sufficiently wide are impracticable, two rails m, Fig. 4, are hooked at their front ends m<5> to the trail-cheeks a, and are supported at their rear ends m<1> by standards m<3> detachably mounted on the rear end of the trail. The wheel - hubs of the transport-carriage wheels d, n are lengthened inwards and formed as flanged rollers to run upon the rails m. Stops c, t secure the carriage i in the position shown.
