Field carriages.-Relates to training-gear for wide-angle training, for use in conjunction with ordinary training-gear, and consists in supporting the wheels of the gun carriage on members, adapted to move over a circular railed track. In the form shown, the gun wheels C rest on trucks D, which carry on their undersides rollers D<1> adapted to move over a railed track E, F. This track comprises a series of box-like members E, each carrying a piece of rail F, and open underneath, so that their side walls can penetrate into the earth. Adjacent members are bolted together loosely by bolts e<1>, and eyes e<3> serve to hold chains G connected up to the trail B. The rail F takes the form of a circular arc with the spade-pin b<1> as centre, and is provided with a series of recesses f<1> in which the rollers D<1> are adapted to rest. The distance between adjacent recesses preferably corresponds to the angle through which the gun can be traversed relatively to the carriage by means of the ordinary training-gear. In following a target moving across the line of fire, the gun is trained by the ordinary gear as far as possible. The gun is then swung round on the track in the direction of motion of the target until the rollers D<1> have reached the next set of recesses f<1>, the upper carriage being meanwhile swung back by means of the ordinary training-gear through the whole field of train. The target can then again be followed by actuating the ordinary training - gear. The whole set of operations may be repeated until the limit of the track is reached. In a modification, the trucks D are replaced by rail-like supports for the wheels, carrying sliding shoes on their undersides to engage with the track E, F.
