Abstract

79. Martyn, S. W. Jan. 1. Plug couplings.-The socket part B of a plug- and-socket coupling is slotted and surrounded by a split tubular spring C which presses the slotted parts on to the plug part A. According to the Provisional Specification, the socket fits in a two-part holder of insulating - material, so arranged that the screwing together of the two parts mechanically grips the lead wire of the socket and also makes electric connexion between the wire and the socket. In this form, the device may be used as an accumulator terminal, the insulation protecting the socket from corrosion.
