Abstract

Dynamos and motors combined for transmitting power ; multiple - wire systems.-In a powertransmission system comprising a dynamo and a number of series-connected propelling-motors, means are provided by which the dynamo voltage is equally distributed between the motors to avoid the effects due to skidding. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the dynamo 3 is connected to the propelling-motors 4, 6, and is provided with a pair of slip-rings 10, 11 in addition to the usual brushes. The slip-rings are connected through an auto-transformer 9, to which the connected terminals of the motors are adjustably connected. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the dynamo 3 is provided with two commutators 14, 15, and a connexion is made between the common terminals of the motors 4, 6 and of the commutator brushes of the dynamo. In a further modification, the voltage of the dynamo is distributed between four motors, by combining the arrangements shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
