Fig. 9 illustrates the generator field windings a<4> extending over the pole tips a<3> to improve ventilation and maintain the fixed brush position. Fig. 10 illustrates the generator brushes a<12> carried on supports a<14> and pressed on the commutator a<1> by springs a<19> which are connected to the brush fingers a<16>.
