Abstract
26,265. Soc. Aeroplanes Morane- Saulnier. Nov. 30, 1911, [Convention date]. Propelling.-Aeroplane engines which overhang the closed bodies of aeroplanes are provided with protecting-bonnets adapted to deflect hot oil and air rearwards beneath the planes 13. The bonnet comprises three parts, the first being generated by the rotation of a curve 4, 5, 6, 7 about the axes of the engine so that a gutter 8 is formed. A second part is formed by a cylindrical portion 11 joined to the upper face of the body at 9. The third part comprises inclined cylindrical parts 12 open rearwardly beneath the planes 13. The gutter 8 is continued along the lower edge of the parts 12.
