Abstract

Oct. 29 Guiding vertical play; springs, arrangement of.-Bicycles and other road vehicles are provided with a resiliently-mounted hub and brake mechanism arranged in such a way that the application of the brake is not affected by the vibrations of the hub upon its springs. The invention is shown applied to the front wheel of a cycle. The hub E is carried by a secondary axle B which is mounted eccentrically on the fixed axle A and connected to a lever D controlled by a spiral or leaf spring C. The expanding brake ring G is attached to a member Y forming a dust-shield and provided with an arm connected to the frame J by a link K. The lever L connected to the cam H of the brake is connected to an operating lever M, O pivoted on the frame, by a link N. The links K, N are arranged parallel to the line joining, and with their centres. at the same distance apart as, the centres of the axles A, B. The fixed axle A may be outside the secondary axle B, being connected thereto by, a link. The bearing-spring may be within the hub.
