Abstract

15,221. Bent, G. H., and Saunders, S. M. Dec. 18. Cylinders, cooling; exhaust, dealing with.-To utilize the exhaust for circulating the cooling- water, a short length of pipe 9 is inserted in the pipe leading from the cylinders 1 to the radiator 8. The end 10 of a branch 7 from the exhaust-pipe 2 projects laterally into the short pipe beneath a transverse partition 11, Fig. 2. The exhaust passes through a filter 4, comprising a sieve containing coke, pumice, or the like by which it is freed from grease.
