Abstract

14,743. Couperie, M. J., and Bernard, P. J. June 24, 1911, [Convention date]. Water-tube boilers.-In a boiler consisting of an upper drum and two lower distributors connected by down-comers and sinuous generating- tubes, the generating-tubes are connected to the distributors through tubes of comparatively large diameter arranged at an angle directly above the furnace. The inclined tubes 4 increase in cross-section upwards to allow for formation of steam in them. The cross-section of each tube 4 at its upper end is equal to the total cross-section of the tubes 5 that open into it. The tubes 5 open into the upper drum 1 above the water-level. The cross-sections of the tubes 4 may be of 'various shapes. A superheater 9 is provided as shown.
