11,339. Howard, G. H. May 13. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Buoys for containing valuables and indicating the position of sunken ships are provided with clock mechanism for indicating the day and hour at which the wreck took place. The buoy is divided into three compartments, the upper part H is an airchamber, the middle part I is the safe for containing valuables, and the lower part C carries a cable drum D. The upper part carries two small compartments F, G, of which one carries a log book and the other a clock which is stopped on the buoy entering the water. The clock is stopped by means of a float connected to the clock mechanism by a rod and bell-crank lever. The buoy is mounted in a steel cage open at the top and provided with a door opposite to a door in the safe-compartment.
