Abstract

4285. Johnson, P. X. Feb. 20. Buoys.-A buoyant safe of the kind that automatically floats off and indicates the position of the sunken ship is housed between decks 14 and 23 and is connected by chains 19 and springs 20 with a hatch cover 21. Standards 10 serve as guides through the medium of friction rollers 9 engaging each standard on three sides. At the bottom of the safe is housed a spool 15 for carrying the usual wire &c. 17. The door is closed by means of a hinged bar 31, through which passes a screw 30 swivelled to the door.
