Abstract

1,200,710. Life-boat launching gear. R. C. ONCINA. 20 Nov., 1968, No. 8497/70. Divided out of 1,200,709. Heading B7S. A life-boat as disclosed and claimed in Specification 1,200,709, is launched from guides 19 adjustably supported by hydraulic rams 20, 22 (preferably at 30 degrees) and having rollers or wheels 23 engaging slides on the capsule. Further rollers 24 bear on the upper surface of these rails to anchor the life boat, and when launching occurs, to prevent the boat tipping or deviating from a straight course. Release mechanism is provided on the guides and is operable by a cable inside the boat. A float is also arranged to actuate the release mechanism should the parent ship sink.
