Abstract
6808. Morgan Crucible Co., Davison, H., and Harvey, L. C. March 19. Distilling zinc &c.- In a furnace for use in the extraction of zinc and other volatile metals from ores, concentrates, amalgams, &c. and comprising a retort or crucible a for the ores &c., and a condenser c for the evolved metals, an intermediate jointing piece d is provided between the retort and the condenser, permanently luted at one side to the former, and formed at the other with a surface against which the condenser will joint without need of luting. The condenser c is hinged to the furnace body so that it can be readily swung into and out of position, and is surrounded by a removable casing n, into which products of combustion pass by an opening o. The gases escaping from the casing are drawn into a hood n<2> and are delivered to the flue f through radial conduits n<3>. A tap-hole p and sight opening q are provided.
