Abstract

1537. Swanson, H. L. Jan. 19, 1911, [Convention date]. Cord fastenings.-A fastening for securing the ends of a package tie comprises two arms 10, 11 converging towards 13, 14 and then diverging at 15, 16 to form bearings 17 for a cranked rod 23. The cranked rod 23 has on one end a loop 21 to which one end of the package tie 24 is secured and on the other a hook 22 round which the tie 24 is turned after it has once been passed around the package. After the tie has been passed around the package at right-angles to the direction of its first convolution, its end is clamped beneath a lever 18 pivoted to the arms 10, 11 and adapted to be engaged beneath the constricted parts 13, 14 of these arms. The hook 22 is disengaged from the tie 24 by turning up the cranked part 23.
