Abstract

28,313. Austin, H. Feb. 7. Turning.-Turret lathes are provided with a cross-slide carried by a saddle traversed by the turret saddle. A bar R carried by the turret saddle has one or two contact plates r adapted to engage with one or more stops p<1> carried by the cross-slide saddle, and mounted on the arm of a pinion P<2> which meshes with a rack adjustably secured to the cross-slide so that when the slide is fed in to bring the tool into operative position the stops p<1> are turned into the path of the plates r to cause the saddle to be traversed by the next movement of the turret saddle. The pinion P<2> meshes with a pinion splined to a side shaft rotated at the end of the lathe by a cam-operated sector meshing with a pinion on the shaft.
