Drilling-machines.-In a radial-arm drilling- machine, motion is transmitted from relatively slidable parts a, b to the locking-devices of the saddle and radial arm respectively. In the arrangement shown diagrammatically in Fig. 3, a toothed sector d pivoted between lugs c on the part b and operated by a lever e engages a rack on the part a. A rack on the part a also gears with a pinion f on a spindle g which operates the clamping-screw of the saddle, while a rack on the part b engages a pinion P which is free to slide, but not to rotate, on a spindle k which operates the locking-device of the radial arm.
