Abstract
25,246. Lilienfeld, L. Nov. 12, 1910, [Convention date]. India-rubber substitutes are produced by treating alpha- or #-dichlorhydrin with an inorganic sulphide, preferably an alkali sulphide, in aqueous or alcoholic solution, and subjecting the products to the action of heat, or of mineral or organic acids, or of dehydrating-substances, or condensing-agents, or oxidizing-substances. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) relates also to the similar treatment of other dihalogenhydrins, of monohalogenhydrins, and of epihalogen-hydrins and epidihalogen-hydrins derived from glycerine or its polymerides. The use of solid sulphides and of sulphides dissolved in other solvents than water and alcohol is also described. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
