Cleaning by use of sand and abrading- agents.-An apparatus for removing scale &c. from boilers comprises a rotating blast nozzle b carried by a tube c supported in brackets g within the boiler a. The nozzle is fed uniformly along the boiler by a worm - operated wheel engaging the threaded outer surface of the tube c. The abrading-material may be sand, shot, glass, or granulated slack, and may be operated by centrifugal force, steam, or compressed air.
