Abstract
20,395. Arledter, H. Sept. 14. Tobacco paper is produced from waste tobacco, tobacco stalks, or ribs, in an apparatus such as that described in Specification 2018/19, [Class 96, Paper &c.], which comprises an hermetically closed vessel, in which a vacuum may be produced or pressure may be applied. An extract of the least fibrous tobacco is produced in the vessel, the vessel is then closed, a partial vacuum is produced, and the whole contents are heated. the material is then cooled, by refrigerating if desired, a quantity of the coarse ribs or stalks is introduced, the vessel is again closed, a high vacuum produced, and the disintegration and mixing are allowed to proceed for some time. Perfumes, flavourings, &c. may then be added by being either sucked in or forced in. As soon as the mass is in proper condition, it is emptied out and worked into single sheets by hand, or is run on to a paper machine.
