Launching torpedoes. -Relates to launching- apparatus in which valves between the firing-valves and the controlling - valves are geared to the front door so as to open the firing conduit only when the door is open, and consists mainly in the provision of two such intermediate valves geared to a common front door so that a pair of tubes are simultaneously armed. As shown diagrammatically in Fig. 10, each one of a pair of intermediate valves 31, 32 has a pair of ports arranged to open a passage to either of two superimposed tubes of a set of four tubes 1 to 4, and these two valves and the shaft a, which serves to work a rotary front door of the kind described in Specification 14,410/06, are all geared to a common shaft 56, so that a diagonal pair of tubes are simultaneously armed while the other pair is closed. The valves 31, 32 are connected by pipes 33, 34 to controlling-valves 35, 36 at the conning station, and by pipes 27, 28 to differential pressure-regulating valves on the tubes. The compressed air is stored in a chamber f. The action of the differential valve 14, Fig. 5, is preceded by that of a valve 22, the stem 25 of which is connected to a rod for antomatically removing the usual torpedo stop immediately before the pressure is admitted behind the torpedo.
