Abstract

19,098. Hervieu, G. Aug. 26, 1910, [Convention date]. Parachutes are provided with an outer rim constructed so as to be normally kept open by springs but adapted to be folded up into a small compass. The rim may be composed of a number of arms b connected together by hinges b<0> fitted with springs which tend to maintain the rim open, as shown in Fig. 1, but allow it to be folded as shown in Fig. 3 or 5. Locking- devices may be provided for holding the springs out of action. Instead of the jointed arms b, a spiral spring arranged to form a ring may be used. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) states also that the parachute may form a hat, helmet, or other article of clothing for the aviator, and that the rim may be in the form of a pneumatic tyre or tube. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
