Abstract

4607. Imray, O., [Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co.]. Oct. 19, 1910. Breech actions, sliding barrel and breech. block; safety appliances applicable generally.- Consists in a magazine catch adapted to cooperate with the trigger to act as a safetyappliance. The catch comprises a cylindrical casing y, Figs. 3, 4, and 5, containing a spring- controlled piston y<3> carrying a lug y<4> which projects through a longitudinal slot in the casing and is adapted to be seated in an annular recess in the pistol grip. Under the action of the spring y<6>, the projection y<2> is urged into a recess in the magazine x, and, when the magazine is in place, the rib t<2>, Fig. 1, on the trigger can enter a slot y<5> in the casing y so that the catch is positively locked against accidental release on firing. When the magazine is removed, however, the slot y<5> is moved by the spring y<6> out of alinement with the rib t<2>. In these circumstances, the casing y abuts against the rib t<2> and locks the trigger against operation.
