Abstract

2460. Langford, E. R. Jan. 31, 1910, [Convention date]. Hoofs, treating. - A rotary cutter 12 is mounted on the end of a shaft 3 carried in hearings in a barrel 1, and is brought into action to cut to the desired depth by retracting a hinged guard-ring 20 by pressing a hand-lever 21 against the action of a spring. The shaft 3 is rotated through flexible shafting. To enable the operator to cut close to the frog of the hoof, the lower edge 23 of the ring 20 is bevelled. Two constructions of cutter are described. In one form, Figs. 1 and 4, closely-arranged radial blades 13 are provided. In the other form, Figs. 5 and 6, a flanged disk 15 is provided with radial slots 16 having cutting-edges 17, 18.
