Metallic spring bodies and cores.-A circumferentially - arranged continuous or sectional helical spring 8, two such springs side by side, or a series of transversely-arranged spring rings, seated on a soft bed 7 on a grooved rim 6, is supported beyond its centre by dished side plates 5 which allow lateral expansion of the tyre. Tongues 17 on the edges of the plates fit between the convolutions, and annular ribs 16 fit in grooves in the rim 6. The interior of the tread of the tyre is lined or filled with rubber 10 which is held in place by a metal band 9. An external cover may be used.
