Gas meters.-In a wet gas meter, to prevent escape of gas should the waste-water valve be inadvertently left open, this valve and that on the gas-inlet pipe are operated by one interchangeable key, which is locked to either valve until the valve is closed, ensuring that both valves cannot be open together. Fig. 6 shows the waste-water valve and Fig. 2 that on the inlet pipe. The plug of each valve is formed with a slot a' which, when the valve is closed, is in alinement with a slot in a cover c. A T- headed key is used to operate the valves. To prevent tampering with the gas-valve, when the meter is not in use, its cap c may have bored lugs through which the hasp of a padlock may be passed, and its holding-down nut f may have a cover g.
