Incandescent gas burners; burners, attaching and adjusting.-An inverted burner of benttube type, as described for instance in Specification 7791/08, has an air or mixing chamber a with a tubular extension g adapted to project at different distances into the burner-tube h, in order to vary the sharpness of flow of the gaseous mixture. The two may be held in adjusted position by means such as a set-screw j, and a collar p may be provided to limit the extent of the adjustment. The burner-tube h may be rigidly held in the lamp by means of a screwed lug l secured by a nut m to a slotted arm n, which is similarly secured to another burner in the same lamp, or is carried by a supporting-tube or standard. The burner has a connector-plug c, which is connected at one end to the gas-pipe d or other fitting, the other end being threaded to receive a nipple b which may be flat-sided to facilitate insertion or removal. The air-chamber a preferably fits on the plug c without screwing, and is interchangeable with others having air-inlets of different area. An elbow-shaped connector s, Fig. 5, may be used, with a screw t allowing access to the nipple for cleaning purposes. When the air supply requires filtering, the air inlets may be covered by a hood u, Fig. 6, which has a gauze or like disk w and is held in place by nuts v, x.
